Round World

Welcome to the pages of woodworking on the LATHE. I got introduced to woodturning in early 2003. It was first shown to me by Ken Salisbury of Huntsville, Alabama that brought his Mini-Lathe to a woodworking BBQ in Springdale, Arkansas at the home of a very good and dear friend of mine, Terry Hatfield. Ken showed me the ropes of turning pens (ink pens) on the lathe and I also watched him turn a small wooden bowl. Needless to say “I was hooked”!

I purchased my first lathe, a Jet 1236 and used it to learn the basics of woodturning. I learned to make pens, small bowls, and even tried my hand at a goblet or two. Later on, I decided that I needed a larger more robust lathe if I was to improve in my turning abilities and also gain better quality turnings for gifts for family and friends. The Powermatic 3520A was my choice for the next lathe in my woodturning hobby, and you can see it proudly displayed in the upper left corner of this page.

In this section of the web site, I show how I process bowl blanks as well as displaying some of my work in the Photo Gallery. It is my hope that you enjoy looking at some of the beautiful things that have come of this woodturners lathe.
